How to clean the Epson L200 printhead

This post will teach you how to get your Epson CISS L200 printer to clean the print heads, and what to do if this doesn’t work out for you.

The Epson L200 printer has the Continous Ink System installed, this system will allow you to use your printer for a long period and time and save money on constantly buying ink. However, printing about 5000 pages without doing the maintenance you will receive an error about the inner sponges needed to be changed. Replacing these sponges can you about $30 if you choose this option.

However, if you decide to go ahead and remove this error without purchasing need printing pads we will show you how to do it below:

Note: the Epson L200 printer use the pigmented ink and the ink sold in the stores are dyed ink.

How to clean and/or unclog the printhead on Epson L200 printer with ink tanks:

The steps below will show you how to clean the printhead manually:

1. Turn your printer off. Do not disconnect the power or USB cables, just turn the device off by using the ON/OFF button.

As you can see in the previous image, you must press the On/Off button which will make the LED indicator go from green to black. This is the first instruction you must follow to clean your Epson L200 printhead. 2. Please put some sheet of paper in the paper tray; the printer will need them to print the sheets necessary for the cleaning process. If you do not reach the desired quality level in this first attempt you will need to do it up to 5 times until you reach the quality level you are aiming for.

3. You must now ask the printer to clean or unclog the printhead on your Epson L200 printer by pressing the On/Off and Resume/Cancel button simultaneously. Please take a look at the following picture.

We must do this exactly as it’s shown in the picture: press the Resume/Cancel button first, and then the On/Off one. Take a look at the test sheets that will come out of the printer. They must look like the first example (a) in the next picture.

If it looks like the second one, keep doing these tests until you reach high print quality.

These examples are just a sample of how the reset document or images produced by your printer will look. You can repeat this process and will not cause any damage to the printer.

4. Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button for 3 to 5 seconds. In this case, the green LED indicator will start blinking, letting us know the printer is in the middle of something.

5. Once this LED stops blinking, it will shine steadily one more time. You can now turn the printer off. This entire process should not take more than 10 seconds, please wait until the printhead has been completely cleaned.

If you cannot still reach the print quality you are looking for, please repeat this process until you do.  If you have done this process more than three times and the results are still the same, then you need to do a deep cleaning process installed with your printer's drivers.
