HP F4580 printer models are known for their high page yield and overall performance, making them one of the best rated printers in the last 3 years. Their ink cartridges print up to 200 pages each.

Fortunately for us, HP created this particular printer for homes and small and medium businesses, and it’s ink cartridges can be easily refilled.

You can learn how to restore the HP 60 ink cartridges with duct tape by reading this post. However, refilling our ink cartridges a lot and using them on the same printer can cause it to lock down. In this case, we will need to restore the entire printer back to factory settings to get it running again.

How to restore the HP F4580 printer back to factory settings:

In order to get this process started, please turn your printer off and disconnect the power cable.

Step #1:
Remember that the printer must be installed and connected via the USB cable to the computer. Now what we do is identify our panel of two specific printer buttons to start the factory reset the HP F4580 printer.

1. The Cancel button.

2. The Page Size button. It will look exactly like this:

Step #2:
Now that your printer’s disconnected, press and hold both the Cancel and Page Size buttons for about 10 seconds. Plug the power cable back in the printer while these buttons are pressed down.

Your printer should now be restored back to its original factory settings and usable.

  1. Nothing happened...at start, it seemed to recognise my refilled color cartridge (ink levels on he top, no warning light), but as soon as I installed the black cartridge, again I had the error E on the LCD screen, ink cartridges were reported to be empty, orange light flicking...I restored again the printer, so as to prove that I coud have the same results with only the color cartridge, but the error signs held. Whats else shoud I do?

    2. As i said, the were old (bought several months ago) but some of them weren't refilled yet. At my cartrigde shop, they tried to fix the black ones but nothing happened. So I bought a brand new black cartridge and it works correctly now. As for the colour one, they managed to clean it and now it works well! - partially though, because the printer doesn't recognise it at some times...
So I guess this was only a matter of the ink having dried at the surface of the injectors, and sometimes you can't do anything.

  2. the printer was bought in the UK and now we want to use the printer here in the Philippines. I searched the hp support forums that if I perform a reset, I could use hp 60 rather than the hp 300 that the printer used when I was in the UK. can I ask for a confirmation if the reset+hp 60 ink works even if the printer was bought in the UK? thank you.
