Continuous ink system Canon printer which LEDs are flashing indicating empty cartridges

When having a printer with a continuous ink system it is taken to its limits, normally a Canon FINE cartridge is rated for about 240 pages, black ink as well as tri color ink cartridge.

Anyway when refilling an ink cartridge the printer indicates that the cartridges are emptied, it is just because the printer has already print the amount of pages the cartridge is rated when new.
When placing a new ink cartridge the printer recognize it, and starts a new page counting until it reaches the amount it is rated for, in the same way a printer with a continuous ink system gets to print an amount that even exceeds the limits of the printer itself.

It is normal that the printer LED flashes when the cartridge is out of ink, although in a continuous ink system it does not run out of ink because the system supplies the ink, but the page counter ends the quantity the cartridge it is made for.

How can you solve the LED flashing because of the cartridge?

It is not possible, to do so you will have to replace the cartridge every time this error shows up, it is an internal setting that even though there is a way to reset the page counter, it is not worthy, anyway the printer will stop printing.

It is recommended when the printer indicates this error to perform a printheads cleaning in the Canon printers, doing this maintenance once per week will help your ink cartridge to be preserved for longer time.

Something that can be done is a resetting of the printer,  at some moments when the printer is connected directly using an USB cable a message indicating that the cartridge is empty will be displayed.

Do not worry about it as long as the printer is still printing correctly.
