How to refill the HP 92 black ink cartridge

This post will teach you how to refill the HP 92 black ink cartridge in four simple steps.

The HP 92 black ink cartridge yields up to 220 pages when it is brand new and up to 150 pages after being refilled. This cartridge is made of pigmented ink and you should ink the type of ink to refill it, if you are not able to find the pigmented ink, you can refill the cartridge with the dye ink or water-based ink.

Remember to never let any ink cartridge completely runs out of ink, doing so could damage the circuit of the cartridge and when those circuits are damaged there is nothing less to do with the cartridge.

Instructions for refilling the HP 92 black ink cartridge:

Before starting the refilling process, we recommend cleaning the contacts on the cartridge, this is necessary but not mandatory.

However, if you have not used the cartridge for a long period of time we highly recommend cleaning it to remove the dried ink.

Step 1:
Place the ink cartridge into a flat surface where you can easily refill the cartridge, you may also use an old piece of fabric to cover the surface use against ink spill.

Step 2:
Carefully remove the sticky label from the tops of the ink cartridge, the one with the color and the ink number. We recommend removing this label before refilling the cartridge to allow the air to enter cartridge to help with the print quality. PS do not discard this label because you will need to put it back at the end of the process.

Step 3:
Slowly inject 5ml of ink into the cartridge to help the ink spread and the inner sponges to absorb it.

Step 4:
After refilling the ink cartridge, gently clean it with a napkin and put it back in the printer. Then print a test sheet to see how this cartridge is working, if you do not know how to print a test sheet, please check our post about printing a test sheet.

Even if you have correctly followed the instruction, something might still go wrong, if it is your case please follow the instructions below:

• Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and clean the contacts located on it using a wet napkin.
• You should also clean the contacts on your printer.
• If this doesn’t solve the problem, then turn your printer OFF for 10 minutes and disconnect the power cord from it. You may plug the cable back and install the cartridge on the printer after this time has passed and turn the printer back ON.
